The auto update service of the custo diagnostic 5 client helps you to keep the client version up to date close to the server version. It runs as a windows service in the background, checks every minute if:
a) There is a new client version available for it
b) All other processes of the custo diagnostic client are not running.
Only if both conditions are true auto update will update the custo diagnostic client.
The process of updating normally takes round 1 minute. If the custo diagnostic client get started during that minute the client installation may be destroyed. In such cases the custo diagnostic client must be uninstalled and reinstalled manually.
What can Auto Update do and what not?
- Autoupdate can update a client an existing version 5 client, but not install it newly.
- Is a background process running if the conditions a) and b) mentioned above are true.
- Client can be mass updated
- It does not replace a manual update where it should be ensured that a client on day x has a certain version.
- With auto update the custo diagnostic server can download client versions from the internet, but it must be able to do so directly without proxy server.
- Clients using the custocfg.ini-Parameter WsName are registered and administered fully with that name in the service center
Autoupdate ist ein Dienst, der dabei unterstützt den custo diagnostic Client aktuell an der Server Version zu halten. Er läuft als Windowsdienst im Hintergrund und prüft jede Minute ob:
a) Für ihn eine neue Client Version verfügbar ist
b) Alle anderen custo diagnostic Client Prozesses gestoppt sind.
Nur wenn beide Bedingungen zutreffen wird das Auto Update den custo diagnostic Client aktualisieren.
Der Updateprozess dauert in der Regel ungefähr 1 Minute. Wenn der custo diagnostic Client innerhalb dieser Minute gestartet wird, kann die Installation kaputt sein. In diesen Fällen muss der custo diagnostic Client händisch deinstalliert und neu installiert werden.
Was leistet Auto Update und was nicht?
- Autoupdate kann einen bestehenden Version 5 Client aktualisieren, aber es kann ihn nicht neu installieren
- Es ist ein Hintergrunddienst, der abhängig von den oben genannten Bedingungen a) und b) läuft
- Man kann damit massenhaft Clients aktualisieren
- Es ersetzt keine händische Aktualisierung, bei der man sicherstellen will, dass ein Client am Tag x eine bestimmte Version hat
- Beim Auto Update kann der custo diagnostic Server Clients Versionen aus dem Internet herunterladen, aber es muss ihm möglich sein das direkt zu tun, ohne Proxy-Server.
- Clients, die den custocfg.ini-Parameter WsName benutzen werden mit diesem Namen im Service Center registriert und verwaltet.
The server side / Die Servereinstellungen
In the service center go to Administration - Updates and first see the server version you use. It is not possible to update clients to higher versions than the server.
In "Verfügbare Updates auf custo diagnostic Server" you can see the updates stored on the server which have been downloaded via "Client updates" If you want to update all clients to certain version you may mark the relevant version in the bottom window and press the button "Alle Arbeitsstationen auf diese Version updaten".
Gehen Sie im Service Center auf "Administration - Updates and überprüfen Sie als erstes die Server Version, die Sie verwenden. Es ist nicht möglich die Clients auf einen höheren Versionsstand als den Server zu bringen.

Via Administration - Arbeitsstation you can get an inventory about which clients you have and which custo diagnostic version they use. Please be aware that all clients using WsName are listed here as one client. If custo diagnostic clients are used via a remote session (e.g. Remote Desktop) and not using WsName the names of the remote Windows clients are displayed here. However for auto update the remote client names are not relevant - for them the real local client names are of relevance. You may select one or several clients here and then click on "Update Version festlegen" at the left bottom.
Über "Administration - Arbeitsstation" können Sie sehen welche Clients mit den zugehörigen Versionen Sie haben. Clients mit WsName werden hier als ein Client dargestellt. Wenn auf Clients mit einer Remote Session zugegriffen wird (z.B. mit Remote Desktop) und sie kein "WsName" verwenden, werden die Namen der jeweiligen remote Windows Clients hier angezeigt. Für das Autoupdate sind diese Remote-Windows-Clientnamen aber nicht relevant - hier zählt der Name der wirklichen Clients. Markieren Sie einen oder mehrere Clients and klicken Sie auf "Update Version festlegen" am linken unteren Fensterrand.
